For Thomas Bearman, 2026 marks his first season in the Italian F4 Championship, the series in which his older brother Oliver dominated in 2021 before continuing his journey all the way to Formula 1. For the young British driver racing with Van Amersfoort Racing, competing in such a competitive category represents a new challenge, approached through a learning process marked by ups and downs.

"This season has had its ups and downs. We've had some positive moments and others that were less so. I think the key is to remain consistent and try to be at the front even during the more difficult weekends. I haven't always been where I wanted to be, but lately we've been showing our potential."

The road to becoming a professional driver is still a long one, and Bearman is aware that, at this stage of his career, it is essential to focus on the work he does every day without getting ahead of himself.

"Of course, I want to become a professional driver, but it's not that simple, and I'm still in Formula 4, so there's a lot of work to do and anything can happen. I just have to give my best for my future."

Throughout his journey, Oliver has been a valuable source of guidance. His older brother already knows the challenges of the championship and can offer useful advice, but their relationship goes far beyond motorsport.

"At the end of the day, we're brothers just like any others. Our relationship isn't just about motorsport: he's one of my best friends. We go cycling together and spend time together whenever we can. It's great to have a brother you can do so many things with, not to mention that he's also a Formula 1 driver."

Oliver's experience also proves valuable on the track, thanks to his knowledge of the circuits and the small details that can make a difference.

"He gives me advice. Obviously, he raced in this championship before me, so he knows the tracks and the little details you need to pay attention to. It's really great."

The family's support has also been evident at the circuit. This year, Oliver travelled to Monza for the Italian F4 round to support his younger brother, making it a weekend Thomas remembers particularly fondly.

"He came to Monza this year. I was really happy to have him there, especially considering his connection with the track, which is one of his favourites. It was great to have his support, and it was probably my best weekend. I think that shows how important family support can be!"

Looking ahead, Thomas is clear about the approach he needs to take: working on every detail while recognising that his future is still unwritten.

"I want to become the best driver I can possibly be. That's why we work so hard on the little things, to make sure we do everything the right way. In the end, whether or not I manage to build a career in motorsport will depend on my abilities. I think it's very important to be aware of that. I want to become the best person I can be, build the best future for myself and keep moving in that direction."
